About the Role
Software Engineers have experience overseeing software development projects, writing optimised code, and provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers. They are responsible for the quality and functionality of the software produced by their team.
Key duties and responsibilities
The Services, delivered in collaboration with and under supervision by nominated AFP personnel, include, but are not limited to, the following:
Analyse very complex ICT business issues, applying expertise to identify and recommend design solutions;
Creating new, and updating existing design artefacts with proposed changes;
Creating new and updating existing User Interfaces and Interfaces;
Implementation of proposed changes including liaising with testing, release management and operations teams;
Assist in the development and documentation of technical design standards and work within those standards;
Respond to reported problems, performing fault diagnosis, analysis and rectification tasks;
Provide or assist in the analysis of enhancements as requested by business areas;
Participate in code reviews;
Work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify their needs, reach agreement on the business objectives and gain commitment to achieving results.
Provide knowledge/skills transfer to other teams.
As part of the services, the seller must ensure the specified personnel
Maintains currency in information technology processes and technical knowledge through ongoing professional development.
Establishes and maintains effective business relationships and professional networks.
Contributes to and implements improved ICT practices and procedures.
Provides mentoring, coaching and training.
Works effectively in a small team environment, and wider Command environment.
Remains accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements, shares own expertise with others and guides and mentors less experienced buyer employees; and
Records and maintains files/information in accordance with buyer requirements.
AFP Band 7 Work Level Standards to apply.
The AFP reserves the right to engage further suppliers for the same services if required utilising this RFQ. Any offer of engagement will be made within 6-months of the RFQ release date.

Interviews may be conducted for shortlisted candidates, and reference checks may be conducted for shortlisted candidates. Provide the contact details for 2 professional referees (name, number, email).
Subcontractor arrangements are not permitted as part of this RFQ. Sellers must please ensure compliance with this requirement before submitting candidates.
